Maleny House 2
This house was designed for a small family on small acreage outside Maleny. It was conceived as a series of pavilions following the slope of the land, “touching the earth lightly”. A variety of cladding materials and simple rooflines produced an interesting yet economical result. The roof over the north-facing deck allows maximum solar penetration in winter and cool shady retreat in summer, while highlight louvres and raking ceilings enhance the natural ventilation without the need for airconditioning. This house was a finalist in the 2005 Master Builders Awards.
